July Newsletter

“It has always seemed to me that broken things, just like broken people, get used more; it’s probably because God has more pieces to work with.”

In the month of July, we welcomed two new children into our care, went through 55 formula tins, had 30 different parent teacher conferences, started a tomato business, watched one of our babies learn to sit, we changed ALOT of diapers, and we came one step closer to finishing our new home.

Welcome Sharifa!!

Just a few days old and malnourished, Sharifa joined our crazy crew! We currently have only 4 girls with 23 boys so they were so excited to welcome a baby girl.

Sharifa was abandoned to a neighbor by her mother who suffers from a mental illness. The neighbor reported that Sharifa was in a dangerous environment and the mother was a threat to Sharifa's life so goverment officials were able to step in and rescue Sharifa.

Sharifa is currently receiving treatment for malnutrition but is doing really well and beginning to meet all of her milestones.

Coming Soon!

We cannot believe that our new home is almost finished! This home will be able to sleep 50 children and we are so ready to get moved in! The first coat of painting has started going on and also landscaping on the outside!

We are currently starting to work on furniture and appliances to be ready to move in as soon as it is finished!

New Business in Town!

Our women harvested over 10 basins of tomatoes and they sold all of them and also gave to our babies!

They were able to earn over $200 that they have put into a savings account.

They are hoping to save enough to begin their poultry project next!

An Amazing Harvest!

We harvested almost 5,000 lbs of maize this month and this will help us tremendously to reduce on our food budget as we turn it into posho (a food the children eat everyday). We will also be able to sell to earn some small profit to help with other operations.

Our farmers have done an amazing job this season and we are praying for them as they prepare the land for the next season!

Parent Teacher Conferences!

This month we attended over 30 parent teach conferences for our kids. We were able to see their progress and also see all the fun stuff they have been learning.

One of our kids will be competing in a National Chess Competition in the month of August and we are so proud of him!

Prayer Request

Join us in praying for Gladys, she has had a couple of seizures these past few months but tests have come back clear.

Pray for us as we continue to work to find the best treatment plan for her. The last seizure she had was very scary for us all.

July was so fun but had its own challenges as we continue caring for the children of Iganga. We are so thankful for each one of you who continually supports us so that we can continue the good work that the Lord has started!
