The training center was created as a way for women in the community of Iganga to be able to support their families. Women in Uganda are responsible for taking care of their families because most of them are single mothers or widows.
The women at Faith Training Center are paid a monthly salary which comes from monthly donations or from someone paying a monthly sponsorship.
The women are required to attend a weekly bible study encourages them in their walk with Christ while also gaining wisdom and counsel from women older than them.
There are 30 women who are working here, they are learning to tailor and also to make handmade crafts.
How the paper beads are made:
They sit and cut papers for a whole week to have enough for the whole month.
They then take a nail or stick and they wrap the paper around each of them and roll them up.
After they have rolled all of them, they have a pile of beads and they then put them on a string.
Then they take each string and cover them in shellac to make them shiny.
After they have dipped them in shellac and then they hang them out to dry.
This is one of the most beautiful steps because they finally get to see all the beads they have been working on.
Now it is time to place the paper beads and filler beads on string.
